Nowhere are quality, value, and attention to detail more essential than in the mechanical systems of healthcare facilities. Mallory & Evans has been performing mechanical construction services on healthcare projects for over 40 years. We have successfully completed and are working on more healthcare facilities than most other contractors in the Southeast. Below is a partial list of some of our Healthcare experience.

Colquitt Regional Medical Center
Moultrie, Georgia
Phase I— Construction of new stand along central energy plant. Phase II— Demolition of old central plant and construction of new building which connected existing hospital and new CEP to office areas within the hospital. Phase III— Demolition of old laundry facility and installation of new Cath Lab.

Emory Eastside Medical Center
Snellville, Georgia
The addition of four patient towers, renovation of several existing areas, an addition to the central plant, two new 500 ton chillers and cooling towers, modifications and additions to existing ductwork and piping systems.

Southeast Georgia Medical Center
Brunswick, Georgia
6-story addition with a full penthouse for an ambulatory care facility and medical office building, pipeline, equipment, plumbing and ductwork.

Henry Medical Center
Stockbridge, Georgia
Mechanical project consisted of a new central plant and renovations of the labor and delivery rooms and the second phase of the radiology center. New and old central plants were cross connected din a primary secondary loop design.

Redmond Regional Medical Center
Rome, Georgia
Renovations to observation beds and pharmacy .

Tift General Hospital
Tifton, Georgia
Cardio unit and operating room expansions consisting of building addition in order to house 11 operating rooms and support areas. The cardio unit was part of this expansion as well. Several recovery rooms and a Cath Lab were also additions.

Cartersville Medical Center
Cartersville, Georgia
Addition to central plant, includes 600 ton chillders, cooling towers, steam boiler (140 HP), dearator and boiler feed unit, 8 pumps and a steam/hot water converter.

Emory Johns Creek Replacement Hospital
Duluth, Georgia
The Emory Johns Creek Hospital is a 264,000 sq. ft. full service medical center. HVAC is provided by a chilled water system to 16 air handlers with medium pressure ductwork to 470 terminal boxes with hot water reheat coils. There are two 800 ton centrifugal chillers (with matching cooling towers) providing the chilled water with a separate packaged chiller providing sub-cooling for the operating rooms. Two 300 HP steam boilers provide the hot water for reheat as well as providing steam for medical and service functions. The boilers also provide the steam for the domestic hot water generators. Boilers are natural gas fired with a back-up fuel oil system. The fuel oil system also serves the emergency generator. Sixty-five fans provide make-up, ventilation and exhaust air as required. The system includes humidifiers and final filters as necessary.

The HVAC system has an air side economizer cycle for energy conservation. When outdoor air conditions allow all air handlers to operate without chilled water, the chillers will cycle off. Separate DX systems provide conditioned air to critical spaces (computers, elevator equipment rooms, etc.) when the chillers are cycled off.

Controls are completely automated and all systems can be controlled through a central building automation computer. The project is set to be completed by December 2006.

Atlanta Medical Center
Atlanta, Georgia
Oncology Consolidation Phase I - First floor work includes duct demolition, duct installation, and the replacement of two double duct VAV boxes, and is part of the renovation of existing spaces. Fourth floor work includes adding five fan coil units with piping and ductwork, and an energy recovery unit, to an unfinished space which is being converted to classrooms.

Healthsouth Medical Center
Birmingham, Alabama
900,000 sf, 13 story digital hospital.
Project highlights include a full central plant with boiler capacity of 96,000 lbs. of steam per hour, five chillers totaling a refrigeration capacity of 5,080 tons, a cooling tower circulating 10,700gallons of chilled waterper minute and 1,222,000 lbs. of ductwork installed and two underground fuel storage tanks (15,000 and 10,000 gallon) for use in fueling boilers and emergency generators.

Athens Regional Medical Center
Athens, Georgia
Athens General is a 185,000 square foot new hospital including a four story patient tower, new laboratory facilities, emergency rooms, outpatient areas, surgicenter, substance abuse center, 1100 ton central plant retrofit and linear accelerator

Southern Regional Medical Center
Riverdale, Georgia
The scope of the project included 330,000 sf of hospital and laboratory space including 202 new beds, extensive laboratory facilities, magnetic resonance imaging facilities, and over 1500 tons of refrigeration.

St. Joseph’s Hospital
Atlanta, Georgia
The scope of this project included 25,000sf of renovations and new construction of emergency rooms, pharmacy, central sterile, ICU, and waiting room renovations.

St. Mary’s Hospital
Atlanta, Georgia
The central energy plant and renovations of the 6th floor and isolation ward were included in this project.

Scottish Rite Children’s Medical Center
Atlanta, Georgia
The additions made to the existing hospital during this project were 129,720sf with 425 tons of refrigeration with chilled water, and 96 new beds.

Emory Univeristy Hospital
Atlanta, Georgia
A 376,000 sf addition for 548 beds and 3,200 tons of refrigerated chilled water were included in this phase.

Hamilton Memorial Hospital
Dalton, Georgia
$4.8 Million
The project scope included 98,000 sf for a new laboratory facility, including 80 new beds and 608 tons of refrigeration (chilled water).
